E414: gum arabic

E414 is the food additive number for gum arabic, also called acacia gum. It is the dried sap of the acacia tree, and one of the oldest natural ingredients in the food supply. In the UK the Food Standards Agency lists it under its approved name, "Gum arabic (acacia gum)".
